DECKTANK DT2

Question 1: When I connect the DT2-WBC through the USB or FireWire 800 port, the computer is not able to recognize the installed drives.

Answer: There is a FireWire/USB interface switch located at the rear of the unit. Make sure that it has been switched to the interface (FireWire or USB) that you are using and re-power on the DT2.

 

Question 2: I can’t get all the built-in devices (card reader, USB and FireWire extension ports) on the DT2-WBC to function. How can I get them all to function?

Answer: Because the devices are supported by different host interfaces, therefore, for all built-in devices to work, both the USB and the FireWire 800 host interface connections must be connected to your computer system.

The USB host interface supports:
1) Card reader
2) Frontal and the rear USB extension ports

The FireWire 800 host interface supports:
1) The frontal FireWire 400 extension port


 
 

DECKTANK DT4

Question 1: Why does my computer system only recognize the first drive in the DT4-SB2 when I connect via eSATA interface connection?

Answer: Because the DT4-SB2 utilizes the port multiplication functionality, therefore, your eSATA host will also require in having the port multiplication functionality in order for your computer system to recognize all the drives installed inside the DT4-SB2.

 

Question 2: When I use the USB connection on the DT4-SB2, if I remove the top A position drive, the other three B, C and D position drives will immediately disappear from the system as well. Why is this?

Answer: The right A position drive must remain at all time during use in order for the drives in B, C or D position. It’s recommended to shut off the system first prior to removing position A drive. Removing either B, C or D position will not affect the drives in the other positions.

Question 1: Why can’t my DR4-WBS2 reach the transfer performance speed of 215 MB/s via e-SATA interface as stated on your website?

Answer: Please first check if your PCI-E SATA host adapter would only support PCI-E (1X). This type of host adapters cannot reach the transfer performance speed beyond 140 MB/s.

It is recommended to purchase STARDOM SJ20-x8 (PCI-E 8X) host adapter to enhance the transfer speed performance via e-SATA.

SOHORAID SR3620

Question 1: During the RAID 1 rebuilding procedure, if I unplug the SR3620-2S-SB2 from my computer or shut off my computer, the rebuilding seems to stop. Why is this?

Answer: During the rebuilding procedure, the SR3620-2S-SB2 requires resources from the computer, therefore, please do not unplug it from your computer or shut off the computer.

 

Question 2: There seems to be incompatibility issues when I plug the SR3620-2S-SB2 into systems with Windows 7 operating systems.

Answer: The SR3620-2S-SB2 is incompatible with Windows 7 operating systems.  


  

 
 

SOHORAID SR2

Question 1: Why is my SR2’s LCD display showing “Double Source”?

Answer: This means the SR2’s has recognized both hard drives as the source drives where it isn’t able to function as a RAID 1 mirroring backup storage device. To resolve this, please follow the below instructions:

    1. Know and choose which drive you would like to use the source drive. The source drive would be the base or original drive that you would obtain data from. If you have no data contained in either hard drive, you may choose either one.
    2. Insert your source drive into the top Primary drive position.
    3. Turn the SR2’s power on and the LCD should display “PRI HDD: OK” and “SEC HDD: FAIL”.
    4. Insert the second hard drive (the target backup drive) into the Secondary drive position.
    5. The LCD will then ask you whether you with to rebuild data from the PRI position (source) drive to SEC position (target) drive. Press the ENT button to proceed.
    6. When done, allow the data rebuild to complete to return back to normal.

It is recommended to purchase STARDOM SJ20-x8 (PCI-E 8X) host adapter to enhance the transfer speed performance via e-SATA.

When using with the SJ20-x8, make sure the storage mode is set to the RAID 0 mode located at the rear.

It is recommended to purchase STARDOM SJ20-x8 (PCI-E 8X) host adapter to enhance the transfer speed performance via e-SATA.

You must implement RAID 0 via the RAID utility in the MAC OS X.

Safe Capsule

Question 1: Can I combine the original storage volume in my Time Capsule with the new storage volume in the Safe Capsule into one large usable volume?

Answer: No. When the Safe Capsule is connected to the Time Capsule, it will be seen as an additional storage volume that will be separate from the Time Capsule’s storage volume.

 

Question 2: Can the Safe Capsule be used with AirPort Extreme Base Station?

Answer: Yes. The Safe Capsule can be used with the AirPort Extreme Base Station.

 

Question 3: If I connect the Safe Capsule to the Air Port Extreme Base Station, can I designate the Safe Capsule as a Time Machine backup drive?

Answer: Yes. As long as you’re using a file format that recognizable by the MAC OS, then simply connect it to your Air Port Extreme Base Station then designate the Safe Capsule as your Time Machine’s backup drive.

SJ20-x8 SATA Adapter

Question 1: I am unable to install the driver for the SJ20-x8. What should I do?

Answer:The internal default pin jumper may have been plugged incorrectly.
Please use the below picture reference and physically check to see if the pins on the adapter card are plugged correctly. If not correct, please re-plug to the correct pins.

SOHORAID SR3610

Question 1: I own a 4cm fan version the SR3610 unit. I have recently upgraded the unit with new drives, however, when in operation or during the rebuilding process, the LCD display often shows drive failures even when I re-power the unit. Why is this?

Answer: If your SR3610 is the 4cm fan version at the rear of the unit, this model only supports the SATA I specification, therefore, if you are using SATA II drives, they may be incompatible. You will be required to downgrade the drives to the SATA I specification for compatibility with the SR3610 4cm fan version of unit. However, this may no ensure full compatibility.
