features

STARDOM creates devices that fulfill users' workflow requirements while maintaining a key principle of professionalism. The brand new MR2-WB3 still maintains its hardware RAID controller chipset design, meaning that while using the MR2, your computer is able to maintain high-speed application and project operations, instead of sacrificing the computer's performance for software RAID.

Same compact design with 10 times the speed

The brand new MR2-WB3 uses the USB 3.0 interface, which not only significantly increases the overall transmission speed, but also supports solid-state drives. You will feel the difference in speed when you are browsing photos or editing videos. ( Support UASP )

Hardware RAID that works seamlessly between Macs and PCs

A software RAID storage system is unable to overcome the problems associated with cross-platform usage. It is only through hardware RAID controller chipsets that users can use these hard drives concurrently in Mac or Windows computers. With the MR2's built-in SATA 6G hardware RAID controller chipset, not only does it promise high transmission speed, it also eliminates the cross-platform usage issues associated with RAID 0 or RAID 1 setups. Also, with hardware RAID, all data is computed and processed by the built-in CPU. With such advantages, your computer performance can be focused on running the software and work, instead of handling the storage device's transmission issues.

MR2-WB3 casing of the MR2-WB3 is made of highly recyclable aluminum. The casing completely encloses the disks inside, protecting the high-capacity disks and data when it is on the move or in a backpack. Not only is the casing made of sturdily-built aluminum alloys, the excellent heat dissipation of aluminum also means that it is highly efficient in cooling and absorbing the heat of the internal components, keeping your hard drive safe and right temperature.

Mac computers that cross generations

The MR2-WB3 is equipped with two types of high- speed transmission interfaces—USB 3.0 and FireWire 800—making it compatible with the latest Mac notebooks or the older Mac desktops, without any conversion problems in interface connectivity.

The MR2-WB3 is equipped with three configuration modes to suit every need

The MR2-WB3 has three built-in disk configuration modes: RAID 1 (Safe Mode), RAID 0 (Speed Mode), and JBOD (Two Independent Volumes) for you to choose according to your needs.

The RAID 1 function provides fully automatic backup that ensures data security

The MR2-WB3's built-in RAID 1 function controls every record that enters the system, and automatically backs it up into two copies in real-time mode, storing them into the two built-in hard disks separately. The two identical copies of data protect against data corruption, so that the data is available even if one of the hard disks is damaged, thus attaining 100% data security.

RAID 0 functionality increases storage speed and performance

The new MR2-WB3 is equipped with a RAID 0 storage mode, which means users can attain up to 260MB/s read speed with the MR2-WBS2's USB3.0 transmission interface. Whether it is used for search and editing photo galleries, or for video editing and synthesis, it promises smooth and easy operation

Secured Drive Module Design

MR2-WB3’s drive module is built-in with locking mechanism to prevent from accidently removing hard drives. In the event hard drive should fail, simply swap out the defective drive with the same drive module to shorten the downtime and reduce the cost of repair.

Application

To be used with Thunderbolt video capture box

The high-speed ThunderboltTM interface allows you to perform video capturing, while making use of the common USB3.0 or FireWire800 interfaces for data storage. Such a configuration not only distributes the computer system's burden instead of using just one transmission interface, while also satisfying most users' work requirements. It is specially designed to ensure the rapid completion of work.

Convenient USB3.0 and FireWire800 interfaces

Every Mac is equipped with USB3.0 and Firewire800 interfaces, which are the most convenient interfaces for data storage expansion, as well as the most suitable connection interfaces between different Mac computers.

With the MR2- WB3's USB3.0 and Firewire800 interfaces, you can use it with a MacBook Pro when you are on the move, providing you with the high volume digital image storage you might need while out. When you are back home or at your workstation, you can then connect the MR2-WB3 to your iMac or Mac mini for video processing.

To help you complete your photography projects

For a professional photographer, every assignment is an all-new challenge. Keeping the huge amount of digital data that comes with an outdoors shoot safe, well-organized, and well-managed is important for every professional. Fortunately, the MR2-WB3 is ready to rise to the challenge. The MR2-WB3's RAID 1 mode safely backs up all of your important data in two hard disks. The enormous capacity of the hard disks completely replaces the nuisance of juggling memory cards. Files imported to the MR2-WB3 can be managed through software like Adobe Lightroom or Aperture, allowing you to quickly organize your important photos or even helping you quickly find the photo you need.

Through hardware RAID, the MR2-WB3 can be used in various platforms

The MR2-WB3's built-in hardware RAID controller chipset allows users to use it with Mac or Windows computers. With the high transmission speed of USB3.0, the editing of files with 1080P compression can be easily done with Final Cut Pro or Adobe Premiere Pro. Even uncompressed full motion 1080i HD video, its streaming speed up to 119MB/s can be easily stored by the MR2. Coupled with Avid Media Composer™ and Intensity, the MR2 can be used for capturing, editing, browsing and playing videos. It follows the Avid process in Mac OS X and Windows 8 platforms, and is definitely your ideal working partner.

Data in the Whole HD to Go

If your project files are too large to be transmitted via the internet, or you need to send the same data out for use with different devices, for example to edit photo or video files, the removable hard disk tray and protective case design is perfect for your requirements. Dependant on the model you choose, the disks can hold up to 750GB of data.

Able to recognize two hard drives with just one USB3.0 cable

MR2-WB3 supports JBOD (Two Independent volume) function. A single port can support two large capacity hard drives, allowing the user to directly view all two drives. This is very convenient for users who use a single hard drive as their image gallery, as they can easily swap hard drives without cabling issues. If you need to access a lot of image and video galleries, you can change the entire image gallery by swapping hard drives, as simple as changing a DVD.
